紹介 Biography

1980年、横浜市立大学医学部卒業。臨床神経精神医学を出発点とし、一酸化炭素中毒の間歇型に関する研究——学位論文 “An study of interval form of carbon monoxide intoxication: using clinical pathology, electroencephalography, MRI diagnosis”（Yokohama Medical Bulletin, 41(3), 143–152, 1988）——により医学博士号を取得。以後、認知症や知的発達症をはじめとする器質性精神病の臨床と研究に従事した。1987年から2013年まで横浜国立大学教育人間科学部障害学講座教授を務め、あわせて同大学大学院教育学研究科（修士課程）を担当、東京学芸大学大学院連合学校教育学研究科（博士課程）では主指導教官として後進の育成にあたった。研究では、医学と特別支援教育の連携、知的発達症の疫学、染色体異常の症例研究などを主題として、教育学・心理学をはじめ多くの分野の研究者と協働し、この間の研究の一部は海外の専門書にも引用されている。また大学教育のかたわら、文部科学省の指導のもと、横浜市・神奈川県を中心とする教育行政に協力し、現職の学校教員年間およそ200名に対するリカレント教育を行って、特別支援教育免許状の取得に貢献した。

臨床では、人口370万の横浜市において知的発達症・自閉スペクトラム症の障害判定業務に約30年にわたり携わり、医療行政の体制づくりに関わりながら、みずから行う判定は年間300例に及んだ。そのデータにもとづいて数多くの疫学研究と症例研究を英文で発表するとともに、横浜市内での施設運営と、知的発達症の医療体制の確立にも尽くした。あわせて1989年から2020年まで31年間、NTT（ICT）グループの顧問精神科医として産業精神保健の分野で活動し、70歳をもって退任した。

2013年、社会福祉法人ル・プリの付置研究機関として設立された横浜基礎研究所の所長に就任し、2023年より名誉所長。長く保持した精神保健指定医・精神科専門医の資格は、研究所での研究に専念するため、みずから返上した。現在は、知的発達症・自閉スペクトラム症の利用者と被虐待児者を支援する法人諸施設の学術的スーパーバイズと職員研修に携わるかたわら、本研究所紀要を中心に、精神医学史——ピネル、エスキロールからクレペリン、ブロイラー、シュナイダー、ヤスパース、アンリ・エーに至るフランス・ドイツの伝統——の概念史的研究を発表し続けている。フランス語・ドイツ語・英語の一次資料に基づく読解と翻訳を研究の基礎とし、関心は精神病理学と哲学の接点から、古代ギリシア、古代大和の歴史にまで及ぶ。

Takeshi Matsuishi graduated from the School of Medicine, Yokohama City University, in 1980. Beginning as a clinical neuropsychiatrist, he received his doctorate for the thesis “An study of interval form of carbon monoxide intoxication: using clinical pathology, electroencephalography, MRI diagnosis” (Yokohama Medical Bulletin, 41(3), 143–152, 1988), and thereafter worked on the clinical study of organic psychoses, including dementia and intellectual developmental disorders. From 1987 to 2013 he was Professor of the Department of Special Education, College of Education and Human Sciences, Yokohama National University; he also taught in the university's Graduate School of Education (master's course) and served as chief doctoral supervisor at the United Graduate School of Education, Tokyo Gakugei University. His research centred on the collaboration of medicine and special education, the epidemiology of intellectual disability, and case studies of chromosomal abnormalities, in cooperation with scholars of education, psychology and many other disciplines; several of these studies have been cited in monographs published abroad. Beyond the university, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education (MEXT) he cooperated with the educational administrations of Yokohama City and Kanagawa Prefecture, providing recurrent education to nearly two hundred serving schoolteachers each year and helping them to obtain their special-education teaching licences.

As a clinician, he was engaged for some thirty years in the disability certification of intellectual developmental disorder and autism spectrum disorder for the City of Yokohama, a city of 3.7 million inhabitants. While helping to build the city's medical-administrative structures, he himself examined as many as three hundred cases a year, and on the basis of these data published numerous epidemiological and case studies in English; he also devoted himself to the management of residential facilities in Yokohama and to the establishment of the city's medical services for persons with intellectual developmental disorders. From 1989 to 2020 — thirty-one years — he further served as consultant psychiatrist to the NTT (ICT) group, working in industrial mental health, retiring from the post at the age of seventy.

In 2013 he was appointed Director of the Yokohama Research Institute for Disability, Education and Industry, a research institute attached to the social-welfare corporation Le Pli, and has been Director Emeritus since 2023. The clinical qualifications he had long held — Designated Psychiatrist under the Mental Health Act of Japan, and board certification in psychiatry — he voluntarily relinquished in order to devote himself wholly to research at the Institute. Alongside the academic supervision and staff training of the corporation's facilities for persons with intellectual developmental disorders and for children in care, his present research centres on the history of psychiatry — the conceptual history of the French and German traditions from Pinel and Esquirol through Kraepelin, Bleuler, Schneider and Jaspers to Henri Ey — published chiefly in the Bulletin of YRIDEI. His work rests on the reading and translation of primary sources in French, German and English, and his interests extend from the meeting-points of psychopathology and philosophy to the history of ancient Greece and ancient Yamato.

研究関心 Research Interests

精神医学史、とりわけ十九世紀から二十世紀にかけてのドイツ・フランスの精神医学伝統——グリージンガー、クレペリン、ブロイラー、シュナイダー、ヤスパース、アンリ・エー——の概念史的研究を中心に、精神病理学、特殊教育、神経発達症、中でも知的発達症の臨床と支援、そして精神医学と哲学・文学・文化人類学の接点にまたがる広範なテーマに関心を持つ。英語資料はもちろんのこと、ドイツ語・フランス語の一次資料を用いた翻訳研究も継続的におこなっている。

Professor Matsuishi's research centers on the conceptual history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century German and French psychiatric traditions — from Griesinger and Kraepelin through Bleuler, Schneider, Jaspers and Henri Ey — extending into psychopathology, special education, the clinical care of persons with neurodevelopmental disorders — above all intellectual developmental disorder — and the intersections of psychiatry with philosophy, literature and cultural anthropology. Alongside English-language scholarship, he maintains ongoing translation work with primary sources in German and French.
